It’s nice to be appreciated.

Web Stuff

I just got this email from one of the people I’ve worked with recently.

“Everything works GREAT. I am going to give you a $50 dollar bonus. It is not much, but you wrote a lot of code, and I appreciate it.”

It’s for a project he’s doing with his own money in his spare time. It’s a cool concept and it’s been fun to work on. I’ve even learned a few things from it, but to get something like this out of the blue just makes me so happy! :) Sure, the money is needed, and appreciated, but just knowing that he was happy enough with it to even think about that…wow.

Awesome.

My weekend thusfar

RandomWeb StuffDogs

Lessee, working this weekend because my friend Mike was kind enough to pass on a PHP/MySQL job to me. Something quick and it’s just building out on an application I already had built..anyone remember the RAC project from hell a month ago? This will make up for that.

Last night we had dinner at Starliner Diner. Yummah. Definitely on my list of absolute favorites here in town. We just chilled the rest of the night and watched reruns of The L Word in anticipation of Season 3 starting tomorrow night. Today we slept until almost 2pm, then I went food shopping to get stuff to make soup and then to Urban Axis to pay Sue back for the food she delivered here the other day, which was VERY kind of her. Actually before I went shopping, a big metal hook thing (weighing about a pound) from the towel rack in the bathroom fell on my very bare foot. I did not cry, but it hurt a LOT. Worse than when Benny (not so) accidently bit me. I honestly can’t believe that I didn’t break a toe. I’m definitely losing a toenail, and the top of my foot is swollen and bruised. What a way to start the day.

So I’m eating the soup I made now. It’s good! The base is V8 and a can of beef broth. Veggie wise - carrots, celery, mushrooms, onions, artichoke, red pepper, red cabbage and a few cloves of garlic. I like it a lot. Guess I really am a “soup chef” huh? Funny since that’s not even the origin of my email name.

Two random Tugger tidbits.
1 - Last night, I accidently stuck my finger up his butt. Not far, but still. Gross. He didn’t seem to mind, lending creedence to my assertion that he’s gay. I, on the other hand, am still traumatized.
2 - He’s sleeping on the chair next to me, and he was just wagging his tail in his sleep. Too cute.

I’m SO popular. Haha.

Web StuffGeek StuffBlog

So it seems like, if you have a blog, you should set up your RSS feed. And if you have a feed, you should run it through Feedburner. So while I’m using the excuse of doing this stuff so I can learn all about feeds and syndication and yadda yadda for my clients, I really do find it kind of neat. So I set it all up, and looked at my stats. I have one subscriber…me. ;)

So that makes me curious..how many of you actually read RSS feeds? I use NetNewsWire Lite (RSS aggregator for Mac) and have about 30 feeds. Sure makes it easier than going to each of those pages every day to see updates. So do you use it? How many of you don’t even know wtf I’m talking about? Really, I’m curious.

Weekend in review

Web StuffInsomniaBlog

Wow. This was an interesting weekend. Believe it or not, the insomniac SLEPT. I think my body wanted to hibernate, and with how cold it is out, I really can’t complain.

I did a lot of work on Friday and Saturday to get a new site up for one of my clients. There’s still work to do, but it’s done enough for them to show the boss. I just love how freelance is feast or famine, and it can change at a moment’s notice.

Saturday night we went to see RENT again. Saw a few people we knew from the German Village Coffee Shop, so that was cool. I am going to see it again tomorrow with Krista, and maybe on Saturday with some people I know from LiveJournal, but haven’t yet met for real. That’d be nice, RENT is one of those things that SHOULD draw people together. I know I’m going a lot, but for someone who rarely goes to the movies at all, that should give an indication of how amazing it truly is. I’m simply awestruck.

I set up a webserver on my new mac, still getting it configured, but I’m using DynDNS to keep it up and running. Not sure what I’ll use it for yet, besides a dev server. I don’t like sending clients to melipillar.com, so with domain masking from iwritethecode.com, it will be perfect.

I put up a new photo gallery last night, with a lot of pics of me as a wee bitty kiddy. You can see it here.
