I’ve never been really happy with Spotlight. Sure it’s a very robust search tool, but the interface just wasn’t all that impressive to me. So when I saw HoudahSpot, I gave it a try. This is totally what Spotlight has been missing! I really like the interface for defining your search criteria. It’s very intuitive AND powerful. Then once you conduct a search, the result panes are great. There’s a browser, which lets you see all the other files in that folder, an Inspector, which gives you a TON of details about the file (for example: images will show you the dimensions, resolution, type, if its RGB, etc) as well as a Preview pane, which obviously, shows you a preview of the file(s) you’re looking at! This is really just the tip of the iceberg too. Check it out!!!

It is 4:24pm. My 2.5 year old 3G iPod is having issues holding a charge. I just took it off the dock, fully charged, and set it on a play cycle, looping, to see how long the battery will last. I’m not optimistic…

This one is actually REALLY cool for me because any of you who know me, know full well that sleep and I do NOT get along. I call myself the chronic-intermittent-insomniac. Never know when it will hit, but when it does, I am MESSED UP.
So this software is definitely something I’m checking out! Anything that can help me sleep has my vote.

I can’t remember if I’ve mentioned MacZot on here before, but if not I sure should have. Each day they promote a useful piece of Mac software at a discount price. I’ve gotten a few applications from them that I probably wouldn’t have known about otherwise! Today is a special “BlogZot” - where they discount the price by 5 cents for each blogger that promotes their site and today’s software SubEthaEdit! So if you’re one of those *smart* Mac users, go check it out. If not, how’s it feel to want?
