Day 1 - Pzizz iPod Blog

InsomniaBlog

Ok well the folks at Pzizz were QUITE generous with their MacZot promotion and are now offering an additional challenge which I am more than happy to take up. Basically they want us to use Pzizz (either the sleep OR energizer module) for 5 days and blog about your results. As everyone who knows me knows, I am quite the little insomniac and am actually in the middle of a spell right now, so what better time to try it? Moving has me very stressed out, and it’s been hard to calm down at night. Usually I play a game of Yahtzee on my cellphone, stare at the ceiling for 15 minutes, play another game of Yahtzee and so on. Doesn’t make for a very restful night’s sleep. So I’m very optimistic here.

I did try the sleep demo (during the day) last week and it definitely got me feeling sleepy. Today I am driving up to Toledo with some of my stuff, so I’ll try to check out the energizer nap beforehand! So stay tuned to see how Pzizz works out for me! Anything to avoid sleeping pills, ya know?

More fun MacZOT Stuff!

InsomniaMacintosh

This one is actually REALLY cool for me because any of you who know me, know full well that sleep and I do NOT get along. I call myself the chronic-intermittent-insomniac. Never know when it will hit, but when it does, I am MESSED UP.
So this software is definitely something I’m checking out! Anything that can help me sleep has my vote.

MacZOT.com Fans want Pzizz because ‘According to the National Sleep Foundation, sleep deprivation and its effect on work performance may be costing U.S. employers some $18 billion each year in lost productivity. Another study pushes this cost to over $100 billion.’ - link to full article

I love those MacZOT folks!!!

Insomnia

Insomnia

I guess being up for 36+ hours straight would make anyone sleep good when they do finally sleep!

To sleep or not to sleep…

Insomnia

I finally fell asleep around 8am, and woke up around noon due to howling. I didn’t sleep very well while I was asleep, the Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack kept rolling around in my head since I listened to it. I only woke up because Tugger was howling to go out while Melissa was in the shower.

So my idea is to stay up with so little sleep and then maybe by midnight I’ll be able to sleep? Doubtful. I’m really not sure why I insist on sticking to a daylight schedule when I’m so obviously nocturnal. The guys I work for don’t mind if I don’t start working until afternoon, so what’s my deal? No one needs me for anything in the morning…

Thoughts?

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again.

Guinea PigInsomnia

Sleep is overrated. And I’m only partially saying that out of jealousy. I do actually get a fair amount done when I can’t sleep. What I’m actually doing though…it varies. Usually nothing too processor intensive since I’m too tired to really focus. Lately it’s been a lot of work on the blog…customizing themes, installing plugins, etc. I want to write a plugin, but I have to come up with something useful. I’d like to work AJAX into it if I can. My brother was actually just online a little bit ago. He hasn’t slept since Friday, being out clubbing/partying/whatever he was doing. I can’t stay awake quite that long.

Interesting tidbit: The guinea pig’s water bottle leaks. They all do, really. But it was getting the litter underneath really wet and it would just stink, so I bought one of those plastic corner trays, which are made for “potty training” the animals to go in that spot. I didn’t expect he’d have a clue really, I didn’t put any litter in or anything. But the very next day when I looked in his cage, lo and behold there were a bunch of little guinea pig poopies in the tray! Patrick’s a smart guy!

New Blog Theme

InsomniaBlog

So another night of insomnia led me to changing the theme on my WordPress blog. I like it a lot better, still tweaking it a bit though. The name has kinda changed from Short Attention Span Theater to a quote “How do you document real life, when real life’s getting more like fiction each day?” - from RENT. It’s a good name for a blog though? For LJ’s purpose though, the link back to my blog, I’m going to leave it as Short Attention Span Theater, at least for now.

Ok, it’s 5:11am. I’m gonna go see if there’s any room in bed for me…

Weekend in review

Web StuffInsomniaBlog

Wow. This was an interesting weekend. Believe it or not, the insomniac SLEPT. I think my body wanted to hibernate, and with how cold it is out, I really can’t complain.

I did a lot of work on Friday and Saturday to get a new site up for one of my clients. There’s still work to do, but it’s done enough for them to show the boss. I just love how freelance is feast or famine, and it can change at a moment’s notice.

Saturday night we went to see RENT again. Saw a few people we knew from the German Village Coffee Shop, so that was cool. I am going to see it again tomorrow with Krista, and maybe on Saturday with some people I know from LiveJournal, but haven’t yet met for real. That’d be nice, RENT is one of those things that SHOULD draw people together. I know I’m going a lot, but for someone who rarely goes to the movies at all, that should give an indication of how amazing it truly is. I’m simply awestruck.

I set up a webserver on my new mac, still getting it configured, but I’m using DynDNS to keep it up and running. Not sure what I’ll use it for yet, besides a dev server. I don’t like sending clients to melipillar.com, so with domain masking from iwritethecode.com, it will be perfect.

I put up a new photo gallery last night, with a lot of pics of me as a wee bitty kiddy. You can see it here.
