Yup, he did it again.

Dogs

My suspicions about why Tugger did nothing but sleep for almost a week straight have been confirmed. It was indeed a growth spurt. I always measure his height by how much i have to angle my hand to touch his head when he’s standing next to me. And well, I did that today, and I’m now angling my hand upwards. I can’t believe he’s still growing! He’s going to be two on Thursday. Big dogs always take longer to reach full size, I know, but he hadn’t grown in so long, that I figured for sure he was done. Guess not.

I’m such a geek.

Random

This is really bad but it’s one of those things you just have to share. I was getting a frozen dinner out to pop in the microwave, and you know how you have to do stupid things like peel back, cook for 3 seconds, then recover and cook for 2 minutes, then stand on your head and hold your nose while it’s on low for a minute? Yeah well I was picking one out and was wondering what I had to do to “configure” my meal. I think I spend too much time coding and setting up websites.

Blogging

Blog

The blogging community is so great. The plugin and theme developers I’ve contacted have been very helpful and friendly! So if any of you are using WordPress, check out ThoughtMechanics. They’re the brilliant guys who came up with the theme I’m currently using, which I just love. And for you WordPress/LiveJournal bloggers, check out LiveJournal Crossposter - it’s the perfect plugin for synching from WP to LJ. The last one I used had so many problems and the developer never even responded to questions from a few of us with the same problem. LiveJournal Crossposter is WP 2.0 compatible and runs in the background after a very simple configuration. Also, Brian Meidell, who has written some kickass plugins! So kudos to you guys! Now..I need to figure out what kind of plugin I want to write!!!

To sleep or not to sleep…

Insomnia

I finally fell asleep around 8am, and woke up around noon due to howling. I didn’t sleep very well while I was asleep, the Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack kept rolling around in my head since I listened to it. I only woke up because Tugger was howling to go out while Melissa was in the shower.

So my idea is to stay up with so little sleep and then maybe by midnight I’ll be able to sleep? Doubtful. I’m really not sure why I insist on sticking to a daylight schedule when I’m so obviously nocturnal. The guys I work for don’t mind if I don’t start working until afternoon, so what’s my deal? No one needs me for anything in the morning…

Thoughts?

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again.

Guinea PigInsomnia

Sleep is overrated. And I’m only partially saying that out of jealousy. I do actually get a fair amount done when I can’t sleep. What I’m actually doing though…it varies. Usually nothing too processor intensive since I’m too tired to really focus. Lately it’s been a lot of work on the blog…customizing themes, installing plugins, etc. I want to write a plugin, but I have to come up with something useful. I’d like to work AJAX into it if I can. My brother was actually just online a little bit ago. He hasn’t slept since Friday, being out clubbing/partying/whatever he was doing. I can’t stay awake quite that long.

Interesting tidbit: The guinea pig’s water bottle leaks. They all do, really. But it was getting the litter underneath really wet and it would just stink, so I bought one of those plastic corner trays, which are made for “potty training” the animals to go in that spot. I didn’t expect he’d have a clue really, I didn’t put any litter in or anything. But the very next day when I looked in his cage, lo and behold there were a bunch of little guinea pig poopies in the tray! Patrick’s a smart guy!
