It’s Really That Important

Random

A lot has been said about how to prevent rape.
Women should learn self-defense. Women should lock themselves in their houses after dark. Women shouldn’t have long hair and women shouldn’t wear short skirts. Women shouldn’t leave drinks unattended. Fuck, they shouldn’t dare to get drunk at all.

instead of that bullshit, how about:

if a woman is drunk, don’t rape her.
if a woman is walking alone at night, don’t rape her.
if a women is drugged and unconscious, don’t rape her.
if a woman is wearing a short skirt, don’t rape her.
if a woman is jogging in a park at 5 am, don’t rape her.
if a woman looks like your ex-girlfriend you’re still hung up on, don’t rape her.
if a woman is asleep in her bed, don’t rape her.
if a woman is asleep in your bed, don’t rape her.
if a woman is doing her laundry, don’t rape her.
if a woman is in a coma, don’t rape her.
if a woman changes her mind in the middle of or about a particular activity, don’t rape her.
if a woman has repeatedly refused a certain activity, don’t rape her.

if a woman is not yet a woman, but a child, don’t rape her.
if your girlfriend or wife is not in the mood, don’t rape her.
if your step-daughter is watching tv, don’t rape her.
if you break into a house and find a woman there, don’t rape her.
if your friend thinks it’s okay to rape someone, tell him it’s not, and that he’s not your friend.

if your “friend” tells you he raped someone, report him to the police.
if your frat-brother or another guy at the party tells you there’s an unconscious woman upstairs and it’s your turn, don’t rape her, call the police and tell the guy he’s a rapist.

tell your sons, god-sons, nephews, grandsons, sons of friends it’s not okay to rape someone.

don’t tell your women friends how to be safe and avoid rape.
don’t imply that she could have avoided it if she’d only done/not done x.
don’t imply that it’s in any way her fault.
don’t let silence imply agreement when someone tells you he “got some” with the drunk girl.
don’t perpetuate a culture that tells you that you have no control over or responsibility for your actions. You can, too, help yourself.

If you agree, repost it. It’s that important.

Work, work and more work.

RandomGeek Stuff

Well I’m back from Thanksgiving, where I didn’t get to do several things I wanted to, for various reasons. After the 11+ (normally 7.5) hour trip OUT there, I really didn’t want to be in a car again. Lots of good food as always. Wish I’d brought home more sweet and sour meatballs though! Yummy.

Work’s been keeping me busy. I couldn’t even go to the Microsoft thing I’ve been planning for over a month now. Free SQL 2005 & VS.NET 2005, damnit. Too much work. I was planning on doing it last night but a girl needs to get some sleep, ya know? I worked almost 13 hours yesterday.

The weather is so weird. One minute it’s freezing and the next it’s 70. These ups and downs are bad.

I can’t wait till my next few checks arrive. iMac baby! It’s purely business necessity. ;) Yeah yeah. Really!

Tugger’s Latest Trick

Dogs

He locked Melissa out of the house this morning. He was jumping up at the door and flipped the bolt.

I couldn’t stop laughing. Is that mean?

Safe n Sound

But oh boy, what an adventure. The total delay was over 3 hours. Musta been some accident. We basically had two stops of 1.5 hours each, about 10 miles apart, for the same accident. No clue why it happened like that. At least I had WiFi at the first stop, which was great. Too funny, 5 feet up the road and I’d not have had it at all. The rest of the trip was uneventful. We did miss Roy Roger’s though, since they stopped making burgers at 2am. We’ll get it on the way back though. :)

Helped Grandad get his DSL hooked up and stuff. Yay for getting him away from AOL!

Ok I’m exhausted and my throat hurts. Bye.

Thanksgiving

Random

I’m leaving soon for Philadelphia. Randy’s waiting for his car to be ready. He had Best Buy install a new radio with an iPod adaptor. That’s going to make a HUGE difference for the trip. Poor Mel2 is stuck here with all the cats and dogs. ;) Her parents may come down at some point, not sure.

I finally got an inhaler. It’s the kind I hate, but it’ll have to do for now, until I can get an appointment with my doctor to go back on Advair. I always feel like I’m on steroids with it though, which is BAD.

Ok well I’ll write from Philly, since the turnpike doesn’t have WiFi…how cool would that be though?

A girl can only take so much…

Random

Let’s see. Yesterday summed up:

  • Woke up feeling crappy
  • Card declined after lunch. Money was there, but the check hadn’t fully cleared yet. Kate saved my butt.
  • Pilot light in hot water heater went out, all I wanted was a hot shower to try and relax
  • Got hit with like 5 priority projects all at once
  • Didn’t find out the milk had gone bad until I was about to pour it into the mac and cheese I’d made
  • Had stupid JavaScript I couldn’t get working, thanks Brian! I owe ya! ;)

Today, as if yesterday wasn’t bad enough…
So I need my inhaler refilled, so I call the doc yesterday and they say yes they’ll call it in. So I call Target just now to confirm that it’s been called in, and the pharmacist is like “Um, it’s been discontinued”. WTF? I’ve been on this shit for almost ten years. So they’re trying to get ahold of the doctor’s office, letting them know there’s a time crunch because I’m going out of state TONIGHT. In the meantime, I’m freaking out. I can’t TAKE regular albuterol, damnit.

*hides in a corner rocking back and forth*

W00!

Blog

I got Gallery2 integrated nicely into WordPress. I have 2 separate things, first there is the random picture display over there on the sidebar. It’ll pick any picture from any album I have set up in Gallery. The other is a link to the gallery itself, which I configured to fit within this WordPress template. I’ll be making a lot of adjustments to the actual photo galleries as time allows, but for now, yay!

Pill Pockets

Dogs

These are the best invention ever. If you’ve got a dog that needs to be on a round of pills, but the idea of shoving your hand down their throat is not something you relish, get Pill Pockets. It’s like a little cup, you put the pill in, squoosh it closed, then offer it to your dog. Insta-pilling! My dog can watch me put the pill in, knowing full well what I’m doing, yet still grab it out of my hand and devour. This is such a huge help, since she’s pretty much on medication for the rest of her life. Medicine time is treat time now!

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Random

We saw the movie at a midnight showing last night. There were maybe 5 other people in the theater. It was an amazing movie! They (obviously had to) cut a lot, but it was well done. The movie was very fast paced, but wow, I think it was my favorite yet. Mom and I are going to see it when I’m home.
